6. Love Lost

The four short satirical poems on love in this collection were set to music by Paul Sjolund for the Norman Luboff Choir. The poets are by Dorothy Parker (1893-1967), Samuel Hoffenstein (1890-1947) and Mark Hollis. The delivery of the bitter-sweet text is key to the performance of this setting. Very useful when building a concert program - and great fun for both performers and audiences!

While not easy, repetition of rhythmic and harmonic patterns coupled with the familiar Latin make this much more accessible than it appears. Completely rewarding!
